Veiltail goldfish



Description:

The veiltail godfish are one of the rare gold fish that one finds,the reason behind this is that it is
hard to breed.They belong to the family of rounded shaped fishes and seems to be very delicate.they are closely related to the fantail but except for their long delicate fins.

History:
They were developed in philadelphia.

Variety:
They come in red,orange and Many more.

Food:
They require flake foods.it is better to give freeze-dried foods rather than live food since it is suspetible to
all the tropical disease like the other goldfishes.

Neighbours:
This is a slow moving fish and so it would be great if this is left with the slow swimmers like lionhead,telescopic,Celestials etc..The Veiltails moves in every part of the pond

Oranda Goldfish



Description:

The Oranda Goldfish look the same as a Veiltail Goldfish except their tails are not as long and flowing, and they have a head growth or hood similar to the Lionhead Goldfish.
These head growth will not cover the eyes and rge mouth.The head growth at the top of the head is called Wen.These Wen structures starts to grow at 3 to 4 months and fully developes
in 2 to 2 1/2 years.

History:
The country of origin is China.The largest known Oranda Goldfish is Bruce, bred in Hong Kong at the TungHoi Aquarium, where he is reported to have reached a whopping 15 inches.
And in the early 1600's were exported, first to Japan and then to Europe, and were further developed into the wonderful colors and forms of gold fish we see today.

Varieties:
Orandas are available in a variety of colors, most often orange, red, red-and-white, red-and-black, black, blue, chocolate, bronze, white or silver, black-and-white,red-black-and-white and calico colors.Oranda goldfish can grow to be 15-18 cm.

Food:
They are omnivorous.They can be feed with all kinds of fresh, frozen, flake foods.

Neighbours:
Goldfish are very social animals and thrive in a community.The Oranda Goldfish is not a fast swimmer. They cannot vigorously compete for food with fast swimming types of goldfish like the the Common Goldfish, Comet Goldfish, the Shubunkin.So they have to be kept with the slow movers.

Bubble Eye Goldfish


Description:
These are basically small variety of goldfish.They have a upward pointing eyes.The significant feature of this goldfish is they have two large fluid filled sacs near their eyes called bubbles.These bubbles are fragile and will again grow if damaged.They are similar to the celestials eyes.They normally grow up to 6 to 8 inches in length.

History:
It has its origin has Japan and China.

Food:
The Bubble Eye Goldfish will generally eat all kinds of fresh, frozen, and flake food as they are omnivorus.

Neighbours:
They live in community.Like thee Telescope Goldfish and Celestial Goldfish, the Bubble Eye can be visually handicapped.They should not be left with fast moving fishes.

LIonchu Goldfish


Description:
It is a result of crossbreeding of lion heads and Ranchus.With suitable conditions this species will grow from ten to
twelve inches in length and will weigh several pounds.These are too slow moving goldfishes.
These goldfish comes on lot of colors like red, orange, chocolate, blue and black.They do not have dorsal fins.

History:
Their roots goes back to Thailand where it has originated and was developed or popularized in Singapore.

Varieties:
These goldfish comes on lot of colors like red, orange, chocolate, blue and black.

Food:
frozen,fresh and flake foods are suitable.Avoid live worms as they might cause disease.

They live in community.These are visually impaired and should be kept with slow movers like the lionhaed
and the Telescopic.That is they have to be kept with slow eaters of food.

Pom Pom Gold Fish


Description:
Pom Pom is kind of unique fish from other goldfish in the sense that it has a pair of fleshy outgrowth.The fish is nearly similar to Lionhead but instead of supporting a headgrowth it has nasal outgrowths.These are referred by names such as the Pom pon,Velvet Ball.The Adult size of the goldfish varies from 6-8 Inches.

History:
The origin of the fish is from China.The dorsalled variety are a Japanese variant called "Hanafusa".


Varieties:
These fishes are available in Chocolate,orange, white, yellow with either metallic or nacreous scales.

Food:
It accepts most of the food types like the flake foods and pellets.They are omnivorus fishes.

Conditions for Celestial ponds:
Temp : 18 to 21degC

Neighbours:
The fish is considered a fast swimmer and thus
should not be left with the slow swimmers such as bubble-eye, celestial, tosakin or the Lionhead.

Description:
The Celestial is a relatively small variety of goldfish that has a torpedo-shaped body similar to the Bubble Eye.It is the most different type of Gold Fish.In the young age the eyes are normal,
but as they start growing,the eyes begin to protrude out and then develops a upturned vision and becomes locked.They are active and agile swimmers eventhough they are visually impared.They can live upto 15 years.

History:
The Country of origin is China and Korea where the Original version of fish is still breed and exported.But Japan now beacame the leading exporters of this fish after it came from China in 1900's.

Varieties:
The Celestial are most commonly seen with metallic scales colored various shades of orange , white, or red and white.However a more expansive color range can be found among these hybrids.

Food:
They are omnivorus fishes .They feed brine shrimp,blood worms, Daphnia, or tubifex worms and proetein Mixtures.

Neighbours:
The fish is visually Handicapped so we cannot keep fishes of fast eating type.The ideal neighbours are Telescope Goldfish, Bubble Eye Gold fish and the Lionhead Goldfish which are slow feeders like the Celestials.

Fantail Gold Fish


Description:
The Fantail also comes under the egg shaped variety of goldfish.The Tail is split and it gives a triangualr stucture and thus got its name.The Breeding quality can be identified from the split of their fins.The Average growth size is 6 inches.It is the one of the easiest gold fish to breed.We have to keep the fish in a varied diet so that it will attain the spawning conditon.Feed your fishes nicely otherwise the parent fish will itself eat the eggs and the small fishes.Pebbles and small plants may help in saving the eggs and the small ones.These are also cold water fishes.

History:
Goldfish with split tails (the original Fantails) were first seen during the Ming Dynasty in the 1400s.

Variety:
Comes in different Colouration and in metallic,matt scale or nacreous types

Food:

so they can be grouped in the same tank.

Rykin Goldfish


Description:
It is a high hump Gold fish looks really beautiful when it moves in your tank.With Favorable conditions A Ryukin Goldfish can grow up to 10 inches long if provided with good care and enough space.A big place is required for these fish to grow so it would be good to put in a
pond rather than tanks or aquarium.It can live upyo 12-15 years.It is also a cold water fish.They are also considered as the eggshaped goldfish.

History:
This fish was developed in Japan and is one of the popular fishes in US.

Variety:
Ryukin Goldfish was only in red in colour, but nowadays found in large variety of colours
like blue,white,calico, green, chocolate and in combinations of red and white.

Food:
It is a Ominivorus fish.Feed lots of spirulina,lettuce and shelled green peas.It prefers dropping food than the floating pellets.The foods
like cocktail shrimp, bloodworms, daphnia, and krill brine shrimp can also be served.

Neighbours:
Lionhead,Oranda Goldfish and Ranchu Goldfish are more suitable companions since they are og sturdy nature.They should not be kept with more weak Telescopic eyes and Bubble Eye or any other slow moving fishes as Rykin will bully those fishes.

Black Moore Gold fish


This fish will be in only one colour Black.It has a glossy look and telescope eyes.It is a commom fish and cheap of cost.It is a fish that has found a place in most of the aquariums.There are certains moore that can change the colour in their old agre but it is only a little in number.Their eyesight is really poor and they need help in finding the fod.So they are usually kept in aquariums and not in ponds.It is advisable to keep these fishes with other visually impared fishes like the Lion Head and Bubble Eye Goldfish.BEcause if it is kept with other fast eating fishes all the food woud have been eaten before the Black Moore finds the food.These fishes have the protruding eyes.
Do not keep hard things to decorate your Aquarium as they may damage the eyes of te fish.Black Moor Goldfish will generally reach about 4 inches.Black Moor Goldfish are egg layers

Foods:
Shrimp,bloodworms,daphnia and cooked cocktail shrimp are all suitable types of food and you should also include vegetable matter like lettuce, peas and zucchini the diet.

Lion Head Gold Fish





Lion head is a great fish to be in your pond.The Lionhead Goldfish requires quite a large space as it is one of the larger types of goldfish.The body of a Lionhead Goldfish is egg shaped and rather streamlined.The Lionhead can be Visually impared due to the heavy muscle growth on the head and these fishes thrive well with telescopic eye fishes which has the same problem.These goldfish comes on lot of colours like red, orange, chocolate, blue and black.It also comes in the combination of colours like tri-coloured in red/white/black and bi-coloured with red/white or red/black.It grows more than 10 inches in sizebut the average is 7 inches.The male is usually smaller and more slender that the female,difficult to identify in their young age.They are egg layers and they spawn in suitable conditions.They are slow eaters of food,So not put these Gold fish with fast eating fishes.It is good to give the lionhead gold fish pellets and vegeables.
